I went to yoga this morning at the Southwood Community center, and was greeted by six women, ages 55-65.
They introduced themselves with typical names like Gayle, Berti and of course Verna.
Verna was obviously from English ancestry, very proper and with a faint accent.
They were excited to have a newcomer in the class, as was the instructor.
“so young……” said one.
“handsome….” said another.
“I enjoy his shirt!”
“thanks Verna.” I said as I looked down at the floor shuffling my feet.
It wasn’t a hard class by any means, but a good introductory back into the yoga routine, and somewhat easy on my shoulder.
After class was done, the ladies were going to walk down to the Tim Horton’s, not to Tim Horton’s but to the Tim Horton’s for a muffin and coffee.
Verna would have tea. (English)
Unfortunately I had to decline - “Sorry ladies, I appreciate the invite but I have to go home and get ready for work.”
“Oh my, you have to work today……. well, welcome to the class, we hope to see you next week”
“Yes, I will be here, have a nice day ladies”
In unison: “Bye!”
